A cup of coffee and a pastry on a table in a bright, plant-filled café.

Open daily

Coffee, breakfast and somewhere to sit

A neighbourhood café: coffee we care about, food made in the morning, and a room that is easy to stay in.

A few things we are known for

A sample of the menu. Everything on it, with today's prices and availability, is one link away.

  • Cappuccino

Espresso, steamed milk, and as much foam as you want.

  • Butter croissant

Laminated the day before, baked the morning of.

  • Toasted sandwich

Pressed to order, with a side of something green.

  • Cheesecake

A short list of ingredients, and a long rest in the fridge.

The café's main room: wooden tables, warm lighting and a long window.

The room

A calm place to work, meet, or do nothing

Enough tables to find one, enough light to read by, and no music loud enough to talk over. Mornings are busy and quick; afternoons are neither.

Laptops are welcome. So are long conversations and small children. We would rather be a room people use than a room people photograph.

Breakfast

Served from opening until it runs out

Eggs, toast, pastries and good coffee. The kitchen makes what it can sell fresh, so the list gets shorter as the morning goes on rather than longer.

Everything is made to order, which is a polite way of saying it takes a few minutes and is worth them.

Who makes it

People who make the same drink the same way

Beans are chosen for how they taste as espresso rather than how they read on a bag, and the grinder gets adjusted through the day as the weather changes. It is a small thing that changes the drink considerably.
